i wonder: could we fit this in my spanx?

Well, the Spanx fix failed to work and thankfully it was FRIGID outside so we clipped the pack to the back of my dress. Anyway, here’s me, an honorary correspondent for A Girl’s Guide to City Life, chatting away, having a blast, wearing more make-up than I’m used to, about how you can save some cash on everyday purchases. I’m the queen of free. From clothing and household swaps, to sipping gratis coffee at work to sitting in on one of those horrid 401k lunches (there’s another hour of my life I won’t get back but at least I’ll get a free lunch) - I’m on the road to credit card debt elimination.

How do you squirrel away those nickels & dimes? Any & all advice is welcome!

Fab! Look at you, doll…so comfortable in front of the camera! :)

Great tips. I agree, especially with the coffee. I used to spend more than $10 on coffee and all those pastries that I tend to buy with it. And yes, don’t bring your card if you don’t want to get tempted.

Look at you!! Wonderful! Such great tips. Starbucks used to be my downfall…but no longer!

I’m so chuffed for you, and for Alex to see A Girl’s Guide to City Life getting such great, and deserved, attention.

If I were a mother hen, I’d be clucking with pride right now.

Loved the clip, didn’t know you were such a pro on camera!!

I do remember though, a couple of years ago some friends and I would chip in together and sign up for those wholesale club cards ( I guess think BJ’s Costco if you’re in NY). But because I had a car we’d hop in some weekends, agree on what we’d need more of for a duration, say 3-5 months, and evenly split up the goods! We saved a but load of money; stuff like deodarant, mouthwash, paper towels… all the necessary things to get us through a typical day and that are usually marked up if you were to shop at Duane Read etc…

Here’s a great tip - find out that a Starbucks is coming in across the street from your house, then get so excited that you start a daily coffee habit, then for over a year see the grand opening being postponed, then get so sick of coffee that by the time the store finally opens you’re no longer interested. It worked for me - ha!

You guys are awesome. Chatel - SWEET ADVICE. I’ve considered doing this for a CSA I wanted to join to get bulk, seasonal produce. Now I’m even more encouraged.
