watch this: my beauty regimen!

Here I go! I’m dipping a toe into the proverbial waters with my first video blog post. Each video is a few minutes long, and speaks to different elements of my beauty regimen for normal/combination, sensitive skin. Although I realize video blogging isn’t new, and while I’ve done this for others, creating and editing videos for my personal site is new to me. As I navigate iMovie and it’s various bells and whistles, I’d love to get your input on my video blogs. Are they helpful? Would you like video blogs mixed in with my traditional content? Should I scrap the video idea entirely? I’d love to hear your feedback in the comments space below. And, yes, we’re going to the ignore the fact that I refer to regimen as regime.

Hey Felicia — The videos are cute! You have a nice, engaging persona, your advice is on-target, and I found myself smiling from time to time.
My suggestions are:
1) Better lighting. I can’t see your face well, or the products.
2) Zoom out a bit more. Frame more face! I kept wanting to adjust the camera b/c it cuts off your chin.
3) Give us a “backdrop”. Maybe film it at your boudoir or bathroom? Someplace where you’d usually apply your beauty products.
That’s it. But bottom line: keep going. I like it!

Ling - This is terrific feedback, thanks! I felt the same way about the camera framing my face!! I also definitely want to shoot videos during the day where there is more natural light. xo

I’ve gone to YouTube before for makeup and hairstyling tutorials. Will you add a segment about the flatiron? I’m not even sure I own the right kind (it’s broad, and I think I need to be told to invest in a narrow one) or am using it right, I get so impatient.
“Regime”! Ha, I didn’t even notice, I was too busy getting a kick out of the video. Anyway I say yes, keep this up, it’s very informative, showing short videos like this is a great way to introduce new products/habits/musts to the clueless like me. Anti-aging products, for example, and even just the simple reminder to use a mask weekly. Also: You’re so cute, meow!

wmc- thanks, foxy! I actually wrote a post about one of my favorite flatirons: https://feliciasullivan.com/?p=1083
However, I am indeed working on a series of videos that speak to hair products. So excited!!

All good stuff, and very informative! I think you covered all bases as far as what the products function is, how and why you use them etc.
I luv all things products, including hair, face, makeup…but if you ever have the energy to do a video showcasing some of your awesome baking…;-)!!!!
