girl can bake and she’ll take it to a book club near you!
So maybe you’ve read my book (trust me, I’ll stop yapping about that and get to the food in a minute), or maybe you haven’t but you’ve seen the very stark and very dark cover, and you’re thinking to yourself: that Felicia Sullivan is all about the gloom and doom. Felicia is all about mother-unlove and addiction.
Ah, friends. You couldn’t be further from the truth! It’s tragic that at readings the audience sees one particular side of me – an author retelling her traumatic, heartbreaking story – a piece of my life, albeit a significant one, but a piece nonetheless. And it’s only at a recent book group in Brooklyn, where we chatted about my book over platters of food, laughter, and tears, did it suddenly dawn on me – why not have readers of my book connect with me on a wholly personal level? Why not connect on something else that I’m most passionate about? That being food, of course.
So here is the deal. This summer I’m bringing my kitchen to a book group near you. This is no stodgy “Invite the Author” affair – I assure you. If your reading group invites me as a guest, I’ll come armed with recipes (which we’ll confirm in advance), ingredients, and the know-how to make a fabulous dessert. We’ll bake together, chat, get to know one another (and I’ll give you some choice tricks of the baking trade), and we’ll discuss my memoir while chowing down on the fruits of our labors.
This will be a weekend gig and I will travel! Northeast to start and we’ll see how it goes. If you’re seriously interested in having delectable goodies, good conversation and book fun in your home (me! me! me!) please email me at felicia AT feliciasullivan DOT com.

Have you ever thought about doing a cookbook? Maybe attach stories to each recipe too. The way you write about food and the memories it conjurs for you are incredibly interesting to read. Although I think anything you write would be great… just an idea.

That is such a fabulous idea! And I totally echo Naomi. I’d buy it.

Pitch a new book before the numbers come in! Selling books is so hard these days bec. no one reads as much. But Felicia, you have a very special voice. Even when you write about cooking, I can still hear your voice, your pain, your joy. I’ll stop now.
