get the glow: dirt cheap!

the fox ingredients Yesterday I wanted to jack my friend’s skin. I’m not kidding – you needed a crowbar to pry me away from gawking at her complexion. My dear, beautiful friend, Julia Coney has got the softest skin going. The girl GLOWS IN THE DARK, she’s that fox, and I literally pulled her aside and confronted her. What is she using on her skin? How does she do it? And more importantly, how do I get such luminous skin?

After twenty minutes and a hilarious demo (I wish we had video), Julia revealed her sage secret, which has been in her family for ages. Dollar store oats + cheap olive oil + dollar store brown sugar = a weekly DIY indulgence. You get the benefits of a deep exfoliation coupled with cooling (oatmeal) and supreme moisture. Forget the fancy pants $100 creams – this WORKS. Use equal parts of each to get a “gloppy” consistency. I’ve an organic pantry, so I used what I had. Of note, I created a facial rather than a full-body situation, but alter the recipe to your body/size, etc. Julia revealed that if you have leftovers, it’ll keep in Tupperware, chilled, for a week’s time.

You’ll need to lay down trash bags all over your bathroom floor (or towels) as to avoid clogging your shower drain. As this is a dry scrub, you will need to work this SLOWLY all over your body. The process takes approximately 20 minutes. Julia recommends a glass of wine and Stevie Wonder to usher in your evening of indulgence. I played a little Film School and sipped green tea.

Once you work this all over your body, you’ll notice that the oats will fall to the ground and you’re essentially left with sugar and olive oil. Hit the showers!

After, rub your favorite lotion and evening moisturizer (Julia opts for dollar store body oil for her body and Vitamin E oil for her face), and believe me when I say that Julia feels like a WOOBIE. And that is a good thing.

Note: I’ve sensitive, combo skin, so I was VERY delicate on my face.

WOWSA – I am DEF going to try this out!!! Julia’s skin is ALWAYS bangin…anything she uses, is a must-try!

This is AMAZING. I honestly felt a difference immediately. One thing I do have to stress for sensitive skin is this: go EASY on the face. I did get a little red and used a cooling serum after, but otherwise it was fab. Can’t WAIT to have the full-body experience this week.
