craftivity = yum
remember my woeful lamentation that i am not an artist in the sense that it’s terribly difficult for me to fashion sweaters, needles chinking, and that i get vertigo when i hear the word collage? arms flailing, preparing for flight and whatnot. well, i was mildy intimidated when i initially spotted supernaturale’s super-woman, tsia carson’s delish book, craftivity: 40 projects for the DIY lifestyle. although i swooned over the french flaps and the stunning photography, woodworking, glass-etching (yikes!) and chandelier-making were a touch beyond my reach. this is before i discovered how to turn boxy, cropped tees into chic undergarmets, how to make the simplest wrappings for the sweetest gifts, how to be a renegade and sport your own hand-made button cuff, how to make an easy, decorate message-board (a must for this task-master) and did i sigh….big sigh…mention the POM POM rug!!??!!
yes, i’ve gone and fallen in love, AGAIN! although some of the projects are way out of my league, many were very doable and make passing the upcoming chilly season that much more cozy. from the novice to the craft-master, there’s a lil somethin’ here for everyone.
quoting from jy’s stellar write-up:
With projects that range from yarn to wood, from found objects to fabric, with contributors from all over the craft spectrum, Tsia Carson has put together a creative lightening bolt — a force of craft. I’m not at all surprised, really. I’ve been a fan of her dynamically charged SuperNaturale.com site for quite some time (and have been fortunate enough to contribute to its Glimmer blog, along with many others, for the last year or so). But the book, Craftivity, takes the whole crafty mission up a notch — it’s inventive, wondrously colorful and full of creative surprises, and I am not alone in singing its praises. I’m really happy and honored to present an interview with Tsia about her new book here at 52projects.com.

and no doubt once you get your little hands on craftivity, you will be in major swoon too. i’m giving away 4 copies to the first 4 folks who post in the comments section, so get it while it’s hot (previous book winners ineligible, sorry!).

Hey, I love your blog and read it when in NYC. Craft stuff always interests me; it’s nice to be in the Midwest because they have these enormous stores devoted to craftiness.

OMG I have to get this book.
there’s also a great book called “Decorating Junk Market Style” by Sue Whitney and Ki Nassauer that i’m obsessed with. I just bought it. Now i’m haunting e-bay for junk, things like old baby scales and cheese graters.
sigh.

That looks like a fabulous book. I am sort of crafty but I am taking the ultimate plunge and teaching myself to knit this winter – I’ll keep you posted if I haven’t stabbed myself with a knitting needle before I get a chance!
