physique 57: you’ll limp, but by god, your body will be toned!
Be forewarned: the Physique 57 workout isn’t for the frail and the lazy. If your idea of a workout is reading In Touch on the stationery bike whilst hoovering chocolate babka and penne pesto, barely peddling your way to forty minutes without breaking a sweat, prepare yourself for supreme, total body conditioning. Last year I raved over the intense fifty-seven minute workout, which is a fusion of yoga, ballet, pilates and core-conditioning. And believe me when I say that working against your own body weight never felt so grueling and rewarding.
Today, I treated my favorite girls Amber & Dina to a little babka and a lot of leg pulses, push-ups and barre work. And although I may need the assistance of Depends and a walker to make it out of my bedroom in the morning, and while we’re being dramatic for affect in the above video (only for you will I look as if I’m smuggling conga drums under my bulky sweater), we all agreed that our bodies felt stronger. Physique 57 may very well be the hardest workout you’ll sample, but I assure you it delivers results.
However, if you’re timid of standing amongst lithe women in bouncy ponytails and you don’t live in New York, Physique recently launched a video series, of which I’ll be sampling in the coming weeks. Because I firmly believe that if you’re going to groan, sob and whittle away the delectable holiday eats and sumptuous sweets, why suffer in the privacy of your own home?!

You’ve motivated me to return to BFit Barre in DC tomorrow. Stay tuned for embarassing tales of weakness and episodes of near passing out!
