serenity now: lavanila’s vanilla lavender candle

lavanila Vanilla Lavender Candle There’s no stopping my affection for lavender. Bliss is hurling myself into a field of blooms. When I think of lavender I think of tendrils coiled around a slim finger, hot crusty bed with Irish butter, gossamer gowns and the feeling of being weightless and small. And this is what a covetable scent should do – evoke magical flights of fancy. From honeysuckle to nutmeg to amber and lilac, a scent should envelop you and take you on a journey. Perhaps I’m waxing poetic, but I do believe in the virtues of aromatherapy, how a candle can soothe and calm, and right now I’m pumping fists in the air while screaming: SERENITY NOW!

One of my revered lavender candles comes courtesy of Lavanila. The Vanilla Lavender Candle ($19.50) is so ethereal, subtle and warm that you want to close the door, crawl under your desk and breathe. Formulated with vanilla from Madagascar, essential oils, Spanish lavender and violet leaf, the scent winds around your curtains and lingers.

So for the days you find yourself screaming into pillows and punching ponies (kidding!), crawl out from under the desk, perhaps lie on the floor with your door closed, and burn a candle. Just don’t burn down the building or anything.

Update: One drawback: the candle burns down the center instead of an allover burn, which is nearly an epic MEH if it weren’t for the blissful fragrance.

Full disclosure: The kind folks at Lavanila were kind enough to provide me a candle for review. Of note, I have been purchasing the line for quite some time.

I love vanilla candles; I’ve tried many different scents but always go back to vanilla…
