donate now: your used eyewear!
As you guys know, I’m an evangelist of female empowerment and opportunity. To put it succinctly, my mission for Fashion For All is centered on empowering women with resources and opportunity so they can grow, personally and professionally. When I learned of The Limited’s collaboration with OneSight, a family of charitable programs dedicated to improving vision for those in need through outreach, research and education, I was delighted to share the campaign with you. Whether it’s donating your used clothing or eyewear or volunteering at a local community organization, don’t underestimate the impact you can have on someone else, or a community. So dust off your used glasses because here’s the scoop:
The Limited recently kicked off a three-week, in-store, eyewear collection drive (September 9 – 21) to benefit OneSight. All eyewear will be donated to OneSight for volunteers to clean, recycle and hand-deliver on one of the organization’s 20 Global Optical Clinics this year.
During this program, each of the more than 220 Limited stores across the United States will serve as official eyewear donation locations. All Limited customers who donate eyewear will receive a coupon for a discount on a future purchase at The Limited.
Around the world, 250 million people suffer from poor vision simply because they don’t have access to, or can’t afford a pair of glasses. Since 1988, OneSight has provided free optical exams and glasses to more than seven million people in need. Each year, OneSight volunteers help hundreds of thousands in need during Global Optical Clinics. Volunteers at these temporary Clinics provide complete eye exams and recycled eyewear to local recipients.
“Many of our recipients – especially globally – have never before owned a pair of glasses, yet are legally blind when they come through our Clinics,” said OneSight Executive Director Greg Hare. “The glasses that The Limited stores are collecting for OneSight will change lives by enabling a grandmother to see the faces of her grandchildren, putting an adult back to work, and helping a child to see the blackboard and learn in school.”
