books you cannot put down: liza monroy’s mexican high
Mexican High: Love it, Read it! from Felicia Sullivan on Vimeo.
Prattling on about how much I adore Liza Monroy’s Mexican High, I neglected to mention a major underlying subplot – Mila’s search for the her father, a Mexican high-ranking official who has been a shadowy figure for the whole of her life until now. I keep flipping through pages, eager for the encounter.
I cannot impress upon you enough how much I love this book – this is the kind of novel that moves so quickly it upsets you because you want to be immersed in this world forever. Buy it, check it out from the library, pass it along to your friends, now!
But wait! There’s more. I have an extra copy of Mexican High to give away. Simply leave a comment with your favorite summer read and you’ll be automatically entered to win. One winner will be picked, at random, on July 3, 8am EST.

Sounds fabulous! I can always use good reading material for the summer, I’m in!
My favorite summer read is mildly embarrassing – Summer Sisters by Judy Blume. I think because it’s a light read on hot days and reminds me of her youth books that I used to read when I was a kid.

Haaa…Like you, it takes me forever to read a book these days so I’ve been leaning toward short articles with lots of pictures. I think I’m ready for a book. Mexican High caught my attention as a summer read. Maybe because my BF is Mexican.

[...] I never imagined she would love it so much as to create a video-tribute! It made my day. Check it out! I’ve decided Felicia would make an amazing producer, she conveys the story so perfectly. [...]

It sounds great! One of my favorite summer reads is Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri. The stories are all accessible and well told and she crafts them together with such artistry! I haven’t actually read her others though, so I should get on that…
