get your bronze on the cheap: lorac summer of style collection
Yesterday, while I lamented the loss of discretionary income and the days of fanciful indulgences (I look at pictures of me, post-facial, in hopes of evoking the memory of an exfoliated complexion!), I sought solace in Blake Bailey’s Cheever: A Life, and some choice web surfing. After hitting up the usual suspects, I paused at the-coveted’s smart, penny-pinching article about how you can hunt for and acquire incredible beauty deals. I’m a firm believer of the adage that you’re a chump if you pay retail. From negotiating the cost of a cashmere sweater at Macy’s to scoring big at the beauty counter, brands are going out of their way to offer you extraordinary deals on high-end cosmetics, and you would be insane not to capitalize.
Now you guys know how much my bff and I are mad for Lorac. I’m talking One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest-Nurse-Ratched-straightjacket-This-is-the-hottest-Jack-Nicholson-ever-looked, mad. And this summer Lorac’s offering up a smokin’ hot collection of makeup that will help you get your bronze on this summer. Snag over $100 worth of cosmetics for only $40 with their limited edition Summer of Style Makeup Collection! Oh, snap, and a Triscuit! Cue the panting, because this is what $40 buys you:
•Gold Makeup Bag
•Starry-Eyed Baked Eye Shadow Trio in Star Style
•Publicity Stunt Lashes in Black*
•Couture Shine Liquid Lipstick in Haute
•Mini TANtalizer Baked Bronzer
*My fave of the bunch is the Publicity Stunt mascara. The mascara stays on for THREE DAYS. Repeat: THREE DAYS. Whether your face is smushed in a pillow or sobbing on your best friend’s new shirt, the mascara will not come off, will not clump, and will continue to make you look uber-fabulous even when you feel like a handbag. The mascara can be easily removed with a warm compress (easiest) or makeup remover (a tad messy).

Thanks so much for mentioning my article on snagging beauty deals! So glad you found it interesting. I love your line about you’re chump if you pay retail. That’s awesome! And so true. I heard that the reason beauty counters are on the ground floor by the entrances is because they yield a higher than average profit – probably because most of what is purchased is usually at retail. Most beauty items never go on sale like with everything else in stores.
Love the Lorac set! I’m a big believer in nabbing sets. They’re such a better deal! BTW, that’s craziness about the mascara staying on three days!
